La Guardiana

Located in the heart of Paraguay, you can find the Ache Kue Tuvy community tucked away amongst the lush remnants of the South Atlantic rainforest. Sadly, only 7% of this rainforest remains today.

However, brave environmental activists and Indigenous communities are banding together to protect what is left of this rainforest that stretches across the central-eastern region of South America. Guayakí is honored to partner with them to grow yerba mate as means to protect this sacred forest and the rich culture of those who reside amongst it.

In this film we meet some of those guardians of the rainforest. Join us in taking a journey to the Kue Tuvy land through the eyes of community leader, Margarita Mbywangi.
