Guayakí Yerba Mate - A Powerful Rainforest Experience
Loose Mate in a Espresso Maker
Yerba mate brews well in most espresso makers.
Ingredients
- Loose Yerba Mate
- Additional ingredients to customize your Mate experience
Directions
Mate Espresso
- Place yerba mate in a double espresso portafilter.
- Pull a long shot for a total of 4 oz.
- Some baristas choose to grind the mate before using in portafilter, or use Guayakí's Gaucho Fuerte Mate.
Mate Espresso Romano
- Mate Espresso with a lemon peel.
Mate Doppio
- Double Mate Espresso (twice the amount of mate and twice the amount of water. Basically, two shots of mate espresso in one cup).
Mate Latte
- Mate Espresso mixed with steamed soy, rice, almond, or dairy milk.
- Typically made with more milk than a cappuccino, with little or no froth on top.
- Syrups can be added for exotic drinks.
Mate Macchiato
- Steamed milk "greened" with a shot of mate espresso, served in a tall glass.
Mat-eccino
- Mate Espresso with foamed milk - 1 part mate espresso, 1 part steamed milk, 1 part froth.
Mate Grande
- A larger portion (not necessarily twice the size), as in Tall Mate Latte.
Mate-ito
- More concentrated mate espresso - made using the same amount of mate but less water, as little as 0.5 oz per serving, by shortening extraction time.
Mate Americano
- A Mate Espresso made with more water than usual by prolonging the extraction of a regular Mate Espresso.
Matechiato
- Mate Espresso "enlightened" with a dollop of steamed milk on top.
