Great Service!

By: kathy nerud of Oakland, ca

I ordered a couple bags of roasted matte & was just short of the $50 free shipping so the Shipper added a 2 pack Energy Shot to put me over so I received a product for the shipping costs. Very considerate of her!

Differently delicious

By: Dave of Centreville, VA

This mate reminded me a lot of my first taste of Guayaki (back when I don't remember having more than one blend/roast). First sip, I didn't care for it. Second sip, kinda growing on me. Third sip, really enjoying the robust and unique taste. I think it tastes closer to coffee than the Dark Roast/Vanilla Nut/Maca blends, but still has the lightness of tea. I drink mine Latte style with a bit of milk or coconut creamer and sugar (or xylitol if available).

Purchased by accident - Glad I did!

By: Peter of Charlottesville, VA

I actually purchased a large bag of Roasted in my local store by accident. I thought I was buying a bag of Ache's Pride (mmm) and missed the little "Roasted" sticker on the front. Upon opening, it was quickly apparent this wasn't my usual Mate. It has a medium brown color, and is ground very fine (no stems) almost like coffee. It smelled good though, and I thought I'd give it a whirl in my french press. At first sip, I did not like it - it was not my usual cup of green goodness! The next day I was ready to return it to the store, and I decided to give it one more try. So very different from my usual Mate, but it started to intrigue me. A more "nutty" flavor, kind of caramel mixed with chicory, but with all the good Mate vibe. Four more days have passed, and I am now very much enjoying this Roasted Mate. Be warned - it is very different from the traditional Guayaki Mate, but is a welcome diversion worthy of exploring.

My new favorite tea

By: Amy Renee Aarmstrong of CA

I LOVE this tea! Guayaki tea's are great, however, this is my new favorite. It taste very similar to coffee, only better. Thanks Guayaki for producing exceptional teas! Amy R Armstrong

Roasted Mate is a nice change of pace

By: Laurel Tingle of DAPHNE

I love the roasted Guayaki yerba mate! My favorite way to drink it is brewed extra strong, with a little raw sugar and half and half, and it tastes a lot like thai tea to me that way! Such a nice mellow nutty richness to it.

Excellent coffee replacement

By: Anonymous of MA

Using this now when I feel like I want coffee. Pretty darn close. The roasting makes for a very different Mate experience.

Pure and Smooth

By: N. Graham of Las Vegas/NV

I can't rave enough about the Roasted Mate. Not only is it smooth, but it is also full of flavor. Good hot and cold, it is delicious to the taste. I combine in my French Press a pinch of peppermint and spearmint and the flavors compliment each other. One of my favorites.

Completely different and really good

By: Brad of Salt Lake City, Utah

I've been wanting to try roasted mate for a while now, and finally broke down and bought a pound. I'm used to the traditional blend that tastes sweet and grassy and assumed this would taste similar, just stronger. Not the case. The first thing I noticed is the mate is almost all leaves with little to no stems or powder. It is dark and almost looks like ground coffee. It brews up just like coffee too, very dark brown with a roasted malty smell. It tastes really similar to coffee substitutes that use roasted grains- sort of like roasted malt with a chocolate and caramel aftertaste. I really like it! It is great for making lattes and mate mochas. It is also great on its own with a little sweetener. I brew one batch hot in my french press, then after pour cold water over the mate to brew some terere. The second batch comes out a dark caramel color, a deep reddish brown, but lighter than the hot batch. I drink it like iced tea and it tastes amazing on a summer day. The roasted is more expensive than regular mate, but totally different and totally worth it. Now I know why it is frequently sold out. I will buy again!
