Not too overpowering

By: Paul R. of Los Angeles, CA

I really, really like the San Mateo blend and may switch to that from the traditional once I run out of my 5 pound bag...or, I may not. But, I do love the smoother taste and even on the first serving, the mateo not over powering. Thanks, Paul

Better than the original!

By: Hunter of Connecticut

I drink this all the time now! In fact, I enjoy it more than the traditional. I seem to get more of an energy buzz off of the San Mateo Blend, and I mean that in a good way. Also, I like to mix this with the traditional mate sometimes.

ahh the smell of Yerba mate is so good.

By: Ian of San Marcos

I love the gourds I received and the bags of yerba mate taste great and gives me energy and focus. It's become a morning ritual, replacing my stops at the gas station for a monster before class. I especially liked the bamboo bombilla, prevent leaf particals from getting though much better than the metal ones. I also got the metal one which is very useful for cleaning out your gourds. Thank you

delicious, as expected, and heavy on caffeine

By: Anonymous of Richmond, Virginia

I like Guayakí maté. This kind is not smoked, which means that it contains fewer polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), as far as I can figure out. Whereas I love the taste of the heavily smoked maté (Barbacúa), I try to avoid PAHs. This packs a caffeine punch, too, of course. I drink this very "thick." I use about 1/4 or 1/3 cup of dry maté for 3/4 cup of water. It's delicious simply with cold water, but I use hot water too. I steep the same maté repeatedly while the infusion becomes ever weaker.

delicious tea

By: James Pollei of Del Mar/CA

have been drinking the san mateo blend for a few weeks now and am really enjoying it. i bought large tea bags for the loose leaf tea and am stoked with the results. with a large tea bag you can add as much yerba mate as desired. after you get the desired amount just twist and tie your tea bag in a knot so no tea leaves escape. add the perfect amount of agave nectar and hot water(not boiling) and BOOM you have perfect delicious mate warming your soul.

Yerba Mate Way Better Than Coffee

By: Joseph Riley of Harrisonburg, VA

I am a long time coffee addict and like really good coffee, as my seven different coffee makers and variety of coffee attest. I like the idea of herb tea, but never found any I liked. My daughter introduced me to Yerba Mate and, while I still like coffee, Yerba Mate agrees with my stomach and sleep patterns much better and has become a favorite drink. The regular Yerba Mate you sell is good, but the air dried is equally good and probably better for you. It makes me alert without any of the jolt of strong caffeine and doesn't interfere as much with sleep. I've read as much as I can find out about it, and it appears it is better for you than coffee. I go for the "Americano" method of making it, since I'm not into sharing germs. I'm surprised it isn't far more popular in the U.S.

Traditional is bolder.....

By: T of Chico,CA

I tried the San Mateo out of curiosity. I like the Traditional style much better as it is more flavorful and bold.
